NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL
ASSESSMENTS
We specialize in neuropsychological assessment services for children, ages six and above, adolescents, adults, and geriatric individuals.
Assessment involves the administration of standardized tests to evaluate cognitive abilities and psychological functioning. Neuropsychological assessment results are used for many purposes, such as:
To determine or clarify diagnosis
To identify strengths, weaknesses, and compensation strategies
To assess recovery from injury and/or response to treatment
To identify the need for academic accommodations
To identify the need for other resources (neurology, psychiatry, counseling, vocational rehabilitation, etc.)
To monitor functioning over time
The assessment process typically involves a clinical interview to obtain a comprehensive history, review of records, administration, scoring, and interpretation of tests, a comprehensive report that summarizes findings and provides treatment recommendations, and a feedback session to explain and discuss results. We tailor each evaluation based on the individual needs of the client and the referral question. Evaluations may involve the assessment of some or all of the following domains of functioning:
Intellectual Ability, Language, Learning and memory, Sensory/ motor, Visual-spatial ability, Attention and processing speed, Executive Functioning, Academic Achievement, Personality and psychological functioning
